You think you can’t afford the Melting Pot? I say you can!

We literally have not been to The Melting Pot in years because the last time we were there we blew over $150 for 4 people. Granted, we did order a bottle of wine but still waaaay out of our price range these days. Heck, even back then. My son Heath had just been there with his Dad for his half brother’s 8 year old birthday dinner (where yes, they blew over $100 for 5 people) even with their special 4 for $100. Hang with me guys and I will get your appetite satiated with delicious food for $28 for 2 including tip. Yes, that is $28 for 2!

Did you know that Monday thru Thursday 5-7 they have half price specials in the bar and patio areas? Their cheese fondues, salads and chocolate fondues are all half price!

Heath enjoyed the dessert so well that for Mother’s Day he wanted to take me to The Melting Pot for dessert. Then my wonderful friend Debbie, reminded me of the bar specials. When I told Heath about it, he said he would treat me to an entire meal, and he did, Bless his pea pickin’ little heart!

We shared a spinach mushroom salad - fresh spinach, baby portobello mushrooms, red onion, chopped bacon and Roma tomatoes with a warm burgundy shallot vinaigrette. Normally $6 it was only $3. I kind of wish I had got my own but I didn’t want to fill up for the fondue. It was a good portion though and I don’t think it would have messed up my appetite to have eaten a whole one.

We then moved onto the marvelous fondue! We started with the Cheddar Cheese Fondue - aged, medium-sharp cheddar and Emmenthaler swiss cheeses, lager beer, garlic and seasonings. It’s served with apples, assorted veggies consisting of broccoli, carrots & cauliflower. And 2 types of breads. Normally $16 it was only $8.

Then came the best part! Dessert! They have several different types to choose from. We chose the Big Night Out® Chocolate | Dark and Dulce Chocolate Fondue Classic flavor combination featuring our bittersweet dark chocolate and sweet, thick dulce de leche accented with coarse sea salt. This was served with fresh strawberries, bananas, cheesecake, Rice Krispies Treats®, marshmallows, pound cake and brownies for you to dip. They are really good about bringing you as much “extra” of any of your favorite dipping items, no extra charge! My favorite taste sensation is sweet and salty and this totally fits the bill. I am a huge fan of dark chocolate (insert your own joke here) but the sea salt is what made this orgasmic for me! They leave it for you to put more if you want!

A little side note. It was a great time to give Heath a lesson on tipping. I told him 15% for good service, 20% for outstanding and on the rare occasion you get subpar service, 10%. The lesson here really was to tip on the original amount before coupons or discounts.

This is definitely a good girl’s night out or date night or let your kid take you out for dinner! I’m not sure I can take my husband though, he is big on “meat” and this meal didn’t consist of any. Although, we do have “app only” meals here without meat.

I highly recommend this for good food at a really, really good price!
